Chart Placing Common Devices and Technologies on the Electromagnetic Spectrum
Electromagnetic wavelengths range from very long at the left of these charts to very short on the right. Frequencies range from lower on the left to higher on the right.
The “size reference” objects on the chart above, and the “approximate scale of wavelength” objects on the chart below, are important because objects of about the same size as the wavelengths are resonant with those wavelengths. Radiation is most damaging to objects of similar size, or 2x, 3x, or 4x that size, or fractions of that size, because of harmonic vibrations. A human heart is about the same size as a baseball, and you can see on the chart directly below the baseball are devices using 2.4 GHz: microwave ovens, mobile phones, and WiFi.
Where Radio, TV, and Cell Phone Frequencies Stand on the Electromagnetic Spectrum
Radio Spectrum, Television Spectrum, and Microwave Cellular Communication Spectrum bandwidths are allocated by different government agencies in each country. In the USA, the FCC is responsible for assigning and auctioning available bandwidths. 3G and 4G cell phone telecommunications use microwave bandwidths. 5G proposes to add millimeter wave bandwidths on top of existing 3G and 4G transmissions. Up until now, millimeter bandwidths have been used only for military rather than civilian applications.

Electric Fields and Magnetic Fields are Inseparable
Wherever there is electricity moving, there is a magnetic field moving right along with it, perpendicularly and spinning counter-clockwise. The wavelength is the distance from the peak of one wave to the peak of the next wave. The frequency is the speed the waves are traveling.
Types of Electromagnetic Radiation that Cause Biological Harm
Source: Oram Miller’s website, linked below.
There are four types of electromagnetic radiation generally measurable in homes, commercial buildings, and urban/suburban areas that have been shown to cause biological effects:
- 60 Hz AC Magnetic Fields from house wiring, wiring errors, current on the grounding system, and overhead power lines.
- 60 Hz AC Electric Fields from house wiring and plastic AC cords, particularly in sleeping ares. To read the article, click here
- Radio Frequency EMFs from wireless devices such as cell phones, Wi-Fi, tablets, cordless telephones, and smart meters. To read the article, click here.
- Harmonic frequencies of “Dirty Electricity” from dimmer switches, compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs), variable speed furnace motors, and other sources. To read the article, click here.
Note: Meters generally used by Building Biologists and EMF Remediation Experts to measure radio-wave and micro-wave bandwidths are not designed to measure 5G millimeter waves. There are not yet any meters available for civilian purchase that are capable of measuring radiation levels in the 5G range. When the first 5G meters do become commercially available, currently projected for late 2020, they will be quite expensive, estimated at over $1,000 USD.
